After the barbecue has cooled and the fireworks are over, think about settling in front of the TV with Turner Classic Movies. Starting at 8:00pm on July 4, you can see "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," "Yankee Doodle Dandy," "Sergeant York," and "Knute Rockne: All American" back, to back, to back, to back. I admit I've only seen the first two, but they're worth it.
And if you're in Manhattan, think about spending some time on the Godspeed.
