Israel's Secret Attack on Syria's Iraqi Nuclear Weapons Actually Aimed at Iran

One thing to consider: in deciding how aggressively to act against Iran and Syria, Israel is likely to take into account the stances of the leading US presidential contenders. To the extent that our candidates make it clear that they will not tolerate a nuclear Iran, Israel may feel less compelled to act against Iran -- and to act quickly, before a less friendly US government is installed.

IT was just after midnight when the 69th Squadron of Israeli F15Is crossed the Syrian coast-line. On the ground, Syria’s formidable air defences went dead. An audacious raid on a Syrian target 50 miles from the Iraqi border was under way.

At a rendezvous point on the ground, a Shaldag air force commando team was waiting to direct their laser beams at the target for the approaching jets. The team had arrived a day earlier, taking up position near a large underground depot. Soon the bunkers were in flames.

Is Ahmadinejad Writing for the Onion?

CNN reports:

Iran wants "peace and friendship for all," the country's president said Wednesday while again denying Western assertions his nation is pursuing nuclear weapons and trying to destabilize Iraq.

But Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took a hard line against Israel, calling it "an invader" and saying it "cannot continue its life..."

"We want friendship -- friendship to all. We love all nations and all human beings. Anyone who is killed, we are against it."

Perhaps Ahmadinejad wants to invite all Israelis to a special peace summit.

Iran has been waging a terror war on the US and US interests since 1979. How we deal with Iran is likely to be one of the leading foreign policy issues of the next campaign. Appropriately so.

Israel Preparing Strike on Iran

Things like this get reported all the time -- but for what it's worth:

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has been training on long-range flights, including refueling in mid-flight, in preparation for potential strikes against Iranian nuclear targets.

The training program has been taking place for some time but has only been released for publication Friday, the Ma'ariv daily reported.

Intelligence assessments received by the defense establishment concur that once Iran passes the point of no return in its nuclear efforts, the entire Middle East will enter a frantic nuclear armament race. Egypt and Saudi Arabia are expected to take the lead should such a scenario become reality.
