Jurassic Park IV: Channeling Calvin & Hobbes

Jurassic Park IV is greenlighted, and the plot is about another dangerous government project gone awry:

Bloody-Disgusting learned this weekend that Universal Pictures has officially begun casting for Jurassic Park IV, which will film in Kauai, Hawaii later this year! Laura Dern confirmed her return to the franchise as Dr. Ellie Sattler here as Sam Neill will NOT return. We're told that the film is about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes. Based on the I can now safely declare that this franchise has entered 'ridiculous sequel mode'. Watch for more news soon.

If you're 35-45, you can't read this and NOT think of... Calvin and Hobbes:

I wonder if the filmmakers realize that what made this comic great is that it was so silly. Oh well. I suppose it's no worse than Snakes in a Plane.

Could it be any worse than Jurrasic Park 3?

Well, if you closely consider the entire franchise, each movie has had some humans-are-bad message, so this should be no surprise. The idea closely mirrors reports of dolphin-suicide-bombers trained by the Evil American Empire.

Yeah, we suck so bad...but it's okay to profiteer with the message, huh. Think they (Speilberg, etc.) realize the hypocrisy of destroying stuff to get their messages across.....?

well, human beings can be pretty evil and why not point that out on film? is it wrong to make a profit? should only movies with a 'go america' or 'go human race' message make money? just tell a good story it's all we want. i'll pay 11 bucks for a good movie any day. and, regarding the posts above, could not agree more about laura dern. she SHOULD be back in a huge movie. can't think of a more gifted actress.

All I know is Laura Dern's career must be worse off than I thought, if she's got a publicist posting multiples times in my thread.

Are you all excited about Laura Dern now? I mean, we all saw 'The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio,' right?

The problem is they keep trying to find reasons to get the stars back on the island (or bring the dinos to San Diego which was retarded) instead of following the natural sequel of dinos in Costa Rica.

'Aight, so check it out, yo. I'm a little insulted about your 35-45 demographic for Calvin and Hobbes readers. I'm 28 and I grew up on C&H.

So howzabout some friggin respect?

Gotta agree with the poster above, I'm 23 and grew up with Calvin and Hobbes as well, remains one of my favorite comic strips, alongside Bloom County/Outland.
