Huckabee's Fundraising On the Rise

Mike Huckabee's campaign has reportedly informed supporters via E-mail that he's on pace to top his entire fundraising for the third quarter, in just the month of October:

Those who have been waiting in vain for a fundraising surge to match former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s (R) upwardly mobile campaign need wait no longer: Huckabee is on pace to top his third-quarter haul in the month of October alone, and that’s only counting online contributions.

The campaign said in a message to supporters Thursday that it had raised $330,000 online over the previous five days and $700,000 online for the month of October. Its new goal is to top its total third-quarter receipts, which include events and direct-mail contributions, by raising $1,034,487 online by the end of the month.

One would imagine that many of the campaigns are likely to improve their fundraising in the last quarter before polling begins. Huckabee might be announcing this now to ensure his improved numbers get noticed early.

Can anyone say 'virtuous cycle?'

Regular readers of the blog know that I'm not a fan of Mr. Huckabee's, but at least any increase in attention to the Huckabee campaign is likely to come at the expense of Ron Paul.

At the expense of Ron Paul? What a joke. There is *nothing* you or anyone else can do to slow down the supporters of Ron Paul. My meetup group had 36 NEW members show up last night. We could even fit in the room we had reserved which was supposed to hold 80 people. Why not just join us? Freedom, liberty, sound money...I know...it sounds horrible doesn't it?

Ron Paul oh eight baby!!

You guys are so cute! You act like your candidate has a ceiling of support of greater than 6%!

Even if that were true, It would still be money and effort spent in support of Hillary.

You can talk down to Paul supporters all you like but I dont' see Fred getting the kind of crowds Dr. Paul is. And I say this as one of the first campaign volunteers for Fred's first Senate campaign. I was impressed when I saw Fred at a Nashville sports bar wearing a John Deere hat and watching Monday Night Football. I was happy to volunteer my time for a regular guy, Tennessean to shake up DC. If I had done my research I would have found that Fred was a registered lobbyist of the worst kind (ie he'd take any client that paid; abortion groups, tobacco, etc) for over 20 years in DC). He was the least productive senator in Tennessee history getting less than 10 bills put into law over 8 years time, and he wasn't the primary sponsor on any of those.

Thompson supporters seem to be folks in awe of his Hollywood starpower. I was embarressed for him on his last Meet the Press appearence. Here was an 8 year senator(and Intel Committee member) and GOP lawyer going back to the Watergate era and he appears to not even read any recent newspaper articles on the middle east situation. He seemed to have less than a layman's knowledge of the difference between Sunnis and Shia, etc.

Dr. Paul's supporters dedicate their time and effort to him because he's actually an honest and smart guy that does his homework and votes his convictions. I think Fred's a great guy that I'd love to sit down and have a beer with, but he wouldn't be running for Prez is his wife weren't pushing him to do it. What driving issues does Thompson feel the need to address? In what new directions does he feel the need to take us? Could anyone honestly believe that Fred is running for anything other than to just be President?

Ron Paul isn't the best public speaker in the world and he doesn't pick the issues and stances that top the polls. For 20 years of service in congress he has held his ground on issues that matter and is sometimes the ONLY honest guy on the Hill. That's what inspires people.
