Joe Lieberman has taken a lot of flak about the poor campaign he's run against Ned Lamont so far, and in particular for that terrible Weicker/bear ad. But it's clear that for now at least, he's doing well. Based on one face-to-face with Lamont and some new advertising, he's completely changed the debate. A week ago the questions were: is Joe a real Democrat; will he quit the Democratic primary entirely; and, will any Senate Democrats back his candidacy? Now they are, why are so many Senators campaigning for him, and is he attacking Lamont either unfairly or too hard?
If you are known for being soft spoken and mellow like Joe Lieberman, this is probably about the best change you could have hoped for. He has gone from defense to offense.
